Product Enterprise have produced (March 2004) an excellent diecast model of a Space 1999 Eagle Transporter.
This company has already produced an impressive range of Daleks, some of which you can see on our Space City website.
Space 1999 was Gerry Anderson's live action show that followed the adventures of the crew of Moonbase Alpha - on a tour of the Galaxy aboard a runaway Moon.
The models and special effects were very good. The Eagle was the standard spacecraft used by the Alphans and I recall quite a few getting blown to bits each week.
They must have had a large supply of them.
This superb model by Product Enterprise is twelve inches long and is made of metal and plastic parts.
I think the only close competitor to this model is the Konami model, also reviewed here on Unity City. This diecast is a good deal bigger though. Detail is amazing as I hope you'll see from the photographs of our model. The central module is detachable via a couple of spring clips located on the underside. To say this Eagle model is impressive would be an understatement. No gimmicks and definitely not a 'toy' in the sense it looks very fragiile - and most probably is. These are not copies of the 1970's diecast Dinky Toys. Those were about nine inches long and not at all accurate - though they were pretty rugged and made excellent toys.
No sign of corner cutting on this replica.
Here are some photographs Pauline has taken of the Product Enterprise Eagle Transporter.
The model is pre-painted and requires no assembly. The box is tough and actractively designed. The model can easily be returned to the box for storage. It is held in a moulded clear plastic tray. Also is included is a wrap around card depiction of Mooonbase Alpha, which you can see below.
